E-mail from Pierre BrunacheMy brother arrived at 11:55 PM from Boston to Olney, Maryland with his family to bring antibiotic for the mother-in-law of one of his friend who is in desperate need !!. That is an act of kindness. I was pleasantly surprised. We spoke all night and I fought tears as we all were discussing the "still" beloved Haiti. Needless to say, I am heading to the airport for the 8:20 AM flight to Santo Domingo in 15 minutes and have not slept all night!. My brother gave me special instruction for my personal safety, which I will share with other groups in the "recovery" zone.
Please pray for me if I am allowed to enter Haiti either by helicopter or road. The latter is a gut-wrenching 11+ hours journey during which I will carry three duffel bags filled with survival kit and satellite phone for my staff. We are almost certain now two of consultants unfortunately perished at the Montana. I pray that I am wrong and that Chrystel Cancel (one of the missing consultants) is instead recuperating incognito in a hospital somewhere and not decaying under the rubble. Den, I personally interviewed her in DC and passionately sold her Haiti; that was her first trip there. I can't stop seeing her face at night when I go to bed at 3 AM every day hoping that I'll see her name on Montana's "found list".
I have been warned against possible disease outbreak due to the thousands of dead bodies, which lined up the streets like on a garbage pick-up day. I thank you so much for praying for Angela and I yesterday; you lifted up her spirit.
I remain 100% optimistic that Haiti is going to rebound. We'll need the voice of a healthy church to speak in the town square. I will never forget January 12, 2010 at 4:53 PM when Haiti began her new chapter. So there we are: Year 1, day 5. Got to go to the airport now...I'll Skype either Phil or Scott while in Haiti...
Thank you for CCC's support to Haiti.
With love,
Pierre |
