A Message from the Elders

As we prepare to celebrate Christmas and the closing of another year, we want to express our sincere gratitude to all of you for your support of the mission and values of Community Covenant Church. Your voluntary donations of time, talent, and treasure have enabled us to grow and thrive in a year of challenging personal and economic circumstances.

Our Sunday morning services, our music, our arts, our production team, the vibrant Kid’s Church, the café, the information desk, the greeting teams – provide an exceptional opportunity for all of us to worship, learn, and grow in faith together. The dedication of scores of talented and committed volunteers, week after week, has enabled us to offer a meaningful and spiritually enriching experience to all who attend. So many of you give so much to make Sunday Services exceptional in so many ways - it is truly amazing!

As you joyfully share your excitement about and commitment to Community Covenant, others are listening. Attendance at Sunday Services, Kid’s Church, the L.E.D.G.E. youth groups, and at all events has exceeded last year’s numbers.

We continued to reach out to our community through child and family-oriented events like the Easter Egg Hunt, GearFest, and Sports Camp. We modeled the love, forgiveness, and hope of our faith through the Divorce Care, Grief Share, Good Sense, and personal counseling programs. And we made a tangible difference in our community through generous giving to the Angel Tree and backpacks projects.

With your help, we also were able to provide immediate and appropriate assistance to our partners in Haiti following the devastating January earthquake. The fact that the Global Leadership Summit went on as scheduled in November is a testament to the value the summit has for Haitian leaders and their great hopes for their country. It has been a privilege to play a role in this important work.

Our church’s financial stability is a direct result of your generous contributions. As we continue to grow and seek new ways to impact our community and share God’s purpose for every person’s life, we will need to depend ever more on your faithfulness.

While we have managed expenses at or below budget, as 2010 draws to a close, we find that our revenue from gifts and offerings is below what we had projected for budgeting purposes. Your thoughtful consideration of the church’s needs as you plan year-end contributions is appreciated. We are deeply grateful for your faithfulness in giving, and carefully and prayerfully steward every gift received.

We wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas as we remember our savior’s birth and a Blessed New Year as we look ahead to 2011.
