We all have goals in life. How do we set our goals to match God’s goals for our lives?

God’s plan and purpose is the correct way. As Christians, we are called to have goals that match God’s purpose. Understanding God’s goals will lead to a Godly vision which will provide hope, focus our life and energy, and build character. Pursuing a Godly goal requires faith.

Proverbs 29:18 “Where there is no vision, the people perish”

But how do we know that our goals are Godly? 

A Godly goal is:
1. Based On God’s Values
2. Motivated By Love
3. Only Achieved With God’s Power

The first anniversary of the worst natural disaster to cripple any single country passed us by last month. I am writing of the “Anniversary,” as it is simply called in Haiti – marking the January 2010 earthquake in which a reported 230,000 Haitians perished. Most Haitians believe the actual count is closer to twice that amount, but no one will ever know for sure. Most records were destroyed; entire families were killed in seconds and their bodies were randomly tossed into mass graves or burned. The world responded with a tremendous outpouring of compassion. Promises were made to rebuild Haiti – a broken nation long before the earthquake – in ways that would ensure that such devastation could never happen again. “ Things will be different this time” - that was the promise.     read more
